On CONGRESS, 2: "I prefer to sit"

The place where questions end is where performance begins.

What is hope? What are we hoping for? How can performance help us find it? And can we feel hope, even before we see it? I have no real answers to these questions. Thankfully, the place where questions end is where performance begins.

I'm reading an original parable from the final iteration of CONGRESS. This is a performance project that examines some links between patriarchal wounds and creative practice. I imagine it as a metaphysical reality show — a broadcast from the void.

Your support for CONGRESS has been a real blessing! Many thanks to those of you who’ve helped make this project a reality. (That includes the folks who’ve recently signed up for Artist, Learner; We’ve finally hit the two-hundred subscriber mark!) It’s never too late to contribute however you can; follow the requisite links to make a donation via PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App, or to purchase a DVNCE tee from my online store.

It's a treat to bring this project to an end after half a year of investigation. This installment is a collaboration between me, Héctor Alvarez, Cory Jones, Juniper Jones, and Azwaw Medkour. It's featured in the second week of REDCAT's New Original Works Festival 2024, November 14 through 16. To learn more about the festival, and to buy tickets, follow this link.

I can't wait to share with you.
